Professor Narita YoshihiroJICA C-BEST Academic Advisor, Hokkaido University, Japan
Dr. Narita is Professor Emeritus of Hokkaido University, Sapporo Japan. He obtained Doctor of Engineering from Hokkaido University in 1980. After he retired March in 2017, he started his activities in Indonesia as an academic advisor of JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency) at Center of Technology (COT), Faculty of Engineering, Hasanuddin University. In the past two years, he dedicated himself to management of JICA research funds and to launching a new engineering journal “EPI International Journal of Engineering” (three issues already published) with excellent counterpart of COT, Dr. Mahmuddin. Special lectures are also his important work, resulting in twenty five lectures at various conferences and universities in Indonesia in the past two years. His academic career includes teaching and research in engineering at private and national universities for 37 years. He has published more than 130 refereed journal papers (Scopus h-index=22), 120 proceeding papers in international conferences and 9 books.
Those works deal with topics of optimization, system engineering, kansei (affective) design, mechanics of composite structures, and engineering education.
He is Honorary member of JSME (Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers), Fellow of JSCM (Japan Society for Composite Materials). He received four awards (Best Paper Award, Pioneer Award, ..) from JSME. For editorship and conference chairmanship, he was Chief editor of JSDD & other JSME journals (2008-17), General chairmen of international conferences (APVC, ISVCS, JSME/D&D, ...), and was Associate editor of AMR (Applied Mechanics Reviews) in ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineer) in 1996-2009. As for administrative experiences, he was Vice Dean of Faculty of Engineering in Hokkaido University (2011-13), Director of Hokkaido University Europe Office (2015-17) and others. He is also interested in industrial engineering, and feels very honoured to be one of the keynote speakers at prestigious international conference ICRISE2019.
Professor Robert de SouzaExecutive Director, The Logistics Institute - Asia Pacific, National University of Singapore
Dr. Robert De Souza is the Executive Director and Chief Executive of The Logistics Institute – Asia Pacific since 2003. He is also a Senior Fellow at the National University of Singapore. TLI - Asia Pacific is a premier national institute housed at the National University of Singapore for nurturing logistics excellence in industry, postgraduate research and education.
Robert is a seasoned industrialist, academic and entrepreneur. His industry credentials include being an Executive Vice President for V3 Systems, a Corporate Senior Vice President and Global Chief Knowledge Officer at Viewlocity Inc. and Vice Chairman and Founder-CEO of SC21 Pte. Ltd. Dr. de Souza has served as a Professor at the Georgia Institute of Technology, as a Visiting Professor at City University of Hong Kong and on many academic committees. He was the first Program Manager for Logistics and SCM (Urban Systems Initiative) at the National Agency for Science, Technology and Research in Singapore.
Robert leads teams of academics in new initiatives and supports key ASEAN Universities in pioneering and delivering Humanitarian and Urban Logistics Research and Education. He has delivered keynotes internationally at many global conferences and invited special sessions and has authored and contributed to over a 100 publications. He is also a member of the Editorial Boards of select international journals and co- editor of a special book series in Logistics published by Springer (over 20 books). Dr de Souza has also been consulted by many international organisations, Development Banks, multinationals, universities and government agencies. Dr. de Souza is a Chartered Engineer, member of several professional institutions and serves globally on multiple industry, government and academic committees.
Under his stewardship, the Institute has won the Asia’s Education Excellence Award 2017, The Supply Chain Asia Award for Education and Training in 2009-2011 and in 2014 and 2017. Also the AFSCA/AFLAS award for Best Educational Courses annually from 2003-2013 and in 2016 and 2018. And the Transport & logistics Industry award for Best Logistics Research and Education Centre in 2017.
Dr. de Souza received his Ph.D., M.Sc. and B.Sc. Honours in the United Kingdom. In 2014, he was conferred the IEOM Distinguished Service Award by his peers. In 2017, the SCA Supply Chain Educator Award and in 2018, the IEOM Distinguished Industry award. More notably, Dr. de Souza is the proud recipient of The Public Administration Medal (Bronze) by the President of the Republic of Singapore.
Assoc. Prof. Cheng Jack KieDeputy Dean of Academic and Student Affairs, Faculty of Industrial Management, Universiti Malaysia Pahang
Cheng Jack Kie received her PhD and Bachelor Degree in Decision Sciences from Universiti Utara Malaysia. She is currently an Associate Professor and also the Deputy Dean of Academic and Student Affairs at the Faculty of Industrial Management, Universiti Malaysia Pahang. Prior joining University Malaysia Pahang in 2012, she exercised her knowledge and experience of conducting market study on employee engagement as well as customer satisfaction for numerous industries such as Oil and Gas, Transportation and FMCG to name a few, with Kantar TNS Malaysia. Now with Faculty of Industrial Management, she has taught courses such as Operations Research, Managerial Decision Modelling, Project Management, Strategic Management and Change Management. Her area of research interest includes System Dynamics Simulation, Discrete Event Simulation, Operations Research, Logistics and Supply Chain Management.
